Greetings and Salutations my dear and wonderful fellows!

Most of you know me, and for those that don't I will not ruin the surprise. :) I am writing to you in conjunction with Tissa and MadK@. We are collectively reaching out to you all to inform and so that we may be informed. Have you all had a chance to familiarize yourself with a little system called Companion Training System?

Presently, version 1.0.1.2 is about to roll out to all the servers on Avlis. This latest update contains only one small change to the existing script, but it a milestone on further developments.
Feedback dialog for non-existent bonding type changed. Should now read;

Code: Select all

"The knowledge to tame such a creature is not yet available in this world."
 + " Yet you sense a connection between you and this creature and you feel "
 + IntToString(iAppearType) + " is some how a key." );
What's that mean? It means that the next time a player bonds to a creature that is not available, they will get a magic number. That number corresponding to the Appearance.2da line for the model type.

This information is being fed out IC as part of a drive to get players to begin their own research into animals that they would like to see added to the functionality of the system. Armed with this information, players will be directed to an entirely new Wiki, completely dedicated to the research of animals for CTS incorporation.

Without going into too much detail on that wiki, suffice to say it will be an information dump, where each account holder will accrue information on animals in their own, private pages. That information will then be skimmed over and a more general image of the creature from multiple sources will be compiled and placed in a publicly accessible area for review. Of utmost importance to the administrators will be seeing that all FOIG information stays FOIG – yet provide a collaborative environment for people to contribute to the information available about these creatures.

Where to from there? Well, naturally, CTS 2.0.

In the new version, we hope to not only add more creatures to choose from, but also more tricks, commands, revise old interfaces and methods, etc.

That's where we need your help! We're looking for ideas, feedback and most of all, those interested in helping this come to fruition. If you have any comments on changing the bonding interface, new tricks, interactions with spells, etc.

We want to hear them.

I have made a minor change, the updated version is 1.0.1.3.
The new feature allows the companions floaty text to change when it takes a new name.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Bluntly put, Kai, Kat, I'm only interested if I'm provided with the code, well commented, as well as an entirely detailed description of every function and feature of the system, and how it operates in-game.

That's something I am not entirely aquainted with, just yet, but I will find out and send you a PM with that information as soon as I can.

Presently, we are discussing a more central repository for universal disemination and dispersal, so I don't want the information I post to become out of date at teh drop of a hat. :)

Once somethig is arranged; or the arcane nature of the current method is a bit less convoluted, I will post a notice here to everyone's benfit.

Frankness is appreciated, and I can assure you that a fully documented version will be released soon(ish); instructions on how to configure the Radial Menu and Commands will be included. Some Assembly May Be Required.

In the mean time, if you can give us specific examples of where you feel it's lacking and what you need clarified, we will make sure it's improved in the next release. Thank you!

Full OOC documentation of how the system is used and works would be a big help. Something that each team can place in their staff forums so that all DM/staff members have access so that they might be able to troubleshoot any issues a player has. On Hala for example, I am the only staff member that really has even half an idea of how some of the things work with this, and that's only from having played a character on Avlis which used the system, as well as having a character on Hala that can use the system. But I don't know all the ins and outs of the system, as most from a players point of view is really FOIG.

We have had several issues where a player was having problems with something and none of us knew exactly what to do, I had a basic idea, but even my knowledge was not enough to adequetly determine if it was just the player doing something wrong, something not set up correctly on our end or what.

Okay.

I have been authorized to make a promise. I promise that I will personally compile a set of Documentation for the CTS system. That Documentation will include;

How to Install
How to Configure
And finally How to Modify

From there, we're hoping some of the arcane issues around maintenance and updating should be resolved.

You will just have to put up with my slow learning curve; because I have no flippin' clue how o do any of that to begin with! :lol: It will be a learning journey for all of us.

So, other than a request for documentation; any suggestions out there? New Commands? GUI updates? That sort of thing?
