Very good thread about the topic. I wanted to point out my last post in particular:

Arborea will be makeing scripts that follow the powerloss of Magical weapons from other Outer/Inner/Prime Planes, much like the Clerical scripts for Spell Level Loss by Plane.

Main Question: What other worlds will participate in this?

Even though your world may not particapate in the actual scripts, and Hence have a -2 hit on Arborian magical items on the Prime, is there a way to tag incoming items from other worlds?

Though I had cleard this up a bit (:
but here goes another shot at it...

Primes worlds don't have to do anything to their items
Outer Planar worlds will ahve to add a variable to their items.

I have a Db table that is a matrix and a small chunk of code that applies a persistant effect to the items changing their properties based on the distance from home the item is.

At this point the only worlds that will need to do this will be Arboria, Outlands, Hades, Abyss (if they want to participate), and Hala (again if they wish to participate).

Worlds that want to have the effects of plane transfer will get that by adding the inc to the Onenter and the onrest with the call to the function that does the actual work. (I think that will cover all possable ways to have the effect wear off)

I am at work ATM but I will post the full wrie uplater here at CoPaP.

Sarrena, we've done a ton of link tests already with Abyss, no? (Thought you'd be a pro there for getting a link up going.)

Avlis has at least one system that puts a variable on items made there that tell what the homeworld is. Dougnoel can shed light on that subject, so you can ask him.

all that really needs to happen is that I get the gate town built at this point which means more AB's ): I have 2 who are coming on and I am bringing them up to speed so I will be there fairly soon.

In the past with Red yes that has happened. But myself and an Avlis team memeber I've yet to get the chance. Basicly I wana get it linked, test it, say bobs your uncle and were live.

Can't test a link without someone to link to :)

Ok, cool. teleri is the expert to talk to then. Avlis is still in the process of switching over to the new VaultSTER, so it'll be a little bit before we are capable. You'd probably be better off linking to Outlands actually, since you're both outer planes. Once the planes are all linked, Avlis can link to Outlands and then use them as the planar hub for all the planar worlds. That makes us less of a focus.

I am mostly ready just started getting an odd error, which I am looking into.

I always wished for a direct link from Avlis death planes to the different planer CoPaps.

So, if someone died and goes to the abyss, they could somehow get to Abyss404 instead of doing their death quest and going back to Avlis.

Same for the other planes.

Wrath That is a great Idea. I would be willing to do it for any PC sent to Arborea for there Death Plane. But some serious issues arise.

1. PC equipment would still be on the Prime server.

2. PC would have to do death Quest on Arborea to return to living. We are doing a custom death senario and doing away with the other death planes. A lot like what Outlands did.

3. PC could not be rezed due to not being on Prime plane. No way to contact PC except through IRC. ---If there was a way to send messages between servers (new plugin for NWNx, perhaps) then we could try this.---

4. PC has no EQ on new server. We could always do some sort of work around on this as well.

If the above things could be worked out then I would have no problems haveing Prime dead coming to Arborea.

Although intereting I am not sure I would want to implement this as things are built now.

Give the word when you'd like to set a date Tel, outlands would work fine for me as a hub point.

The idea of going from Avlis death planes to other CoPaP planar servers has always been there. Really this is why the portal to Hala was originally put in the Ysgard death plane, you know. But you're right, the problems of equipment are hard to get around.

I see that equipment loss as a price folks are going to have to be willing to take.

You know what they say, you cannot take your worldly possessions with you when you die.

My point really was, that folks could choose a semi-permanent death. Starting a new life on their death plane.

Freely traveling to the abyss and back should never be a dayly routine.

Not to get back on topic or anything... :D

I plan to document the variables that are set on aritficed items. It will be on the wiki, and when I get it there I'll make an announcement. In the mean time, the info's in the code - which you have access to, and if you send me a PM and can look up specific info for you.

to see the implementation I am using download the erf here and look at the Longsword +1 in custom content (you can tell its a planar normal magic weapon by the discription and the variable set) http://www.yendi.net/nwn/planarlongsword.erf

This value is set for the plane not for the world (: if there is no varialbe I assume its a prime item in code.
The various planes I currently accept are...
prime (includes spelljamming)
astral
outlands
abyss
hades
baator
arborea
ysgard
(have not added the other outerplanes at this time)
ethereal
Fire
Earth
Air
Water
PositiveEnergy
