Yeah I've tried storing variables on characters - setting up the variables table inside the saved character file - but when the character is saved back out again via NWN, the variables are not saved again. Transferring tradeskills stuff via the item would be good though different servers may use dif...

Yeah, a specific temporary passport item would be good as opposed to just the first item in inventory (which could possibly get shuffled with different implementations). A permanent cursed-plot-nondroppable passport might be worth considering as well/instead for cross-world shared data such as: Whic...

Passport Revisited and HotU Local Variables Stored on items
There's a thread on the Bioware scripting boards that could be of use in transferring information across servers with a character: this thread . If I'm reading the thread correctly, basically local variables set on items are saved in the character file and can be loaded again out of them. With HotU,...

New Bioware Docs Up
The Bioware docs for Conversation, Creature, Encounter, Faction and Journal file formats and the HotU updates for the other files format docs are up at: http://nwn.bioware.com/developers/ Though most developers who want to use these file formats have figured them out by now, these are still very use...

There's a help forum for the system on the Bioware guilds . Feel free to post any installation/setup issues you have on that board. I'll be making an HotU patch of the system once I get HotU or when Bioware releases the new SoU patch. Just remember that when you make these races, to include the appr...

HTML version of the Articles of Confederation?
Could we get an HTML version of the enacted Articles of Confederation put back on the site? It makes it easier to read for those who are just visiting and don't want to download, and also something pw sites can put a link to. Also if there are page anchors in the page, then folks can refer to specif...

With placeables, it depends on a variety of factors and there are different distinctions between lag: - latency lag vs area loading time vs client-side frame jumping - how many show up on a screen at the same time (client side frame jumping) - placeables count (module loading, ai-pathfinding for ser...

Another common mistake with trigger-based transitions is that folks often forget to adjust the destination waypoints. When you go through a two-way transition between triggers, make sure the destination waypoints are outside the return trigger with a little bit of space so that the player won't acci...

Yeah just the links themselves. I think some of you are doing this already - the actual files could be put on NWVault and just a link to the download URL on the vault for them be placed - this is what the vault is there for. No need for servers to have to take up their own bandwidth to host the hakp...

Consolidated Links to Hakpacks of different worlds
Convenient listing of hakpack links If worlds are using different/extra hackpacks, it might be better to set up the downloads page as an up-to-date consolidated listing of links for the hakpacks used by different worlds so that CoPaP players don't have to search through several different sites to f...

Where would we be without Michael? Noone would be dancing like they do on those music videos. I think he's a good guy and the press/legal folks are just doing this for attention. He'd know better than to do what they accuse him of. I think we should accept Michael Jackson's application into CoPaP. T...

Defining metagaming, powergaming, and exploiting
Here's a great post from the Avlis forums about metagaming, powergaming, and exploiting. Here's a link to the original thread posted by Vanor. I'd encourage all folks who want to maintain a good roleplay server to read it. For your convenience, I've pasted it here below: We?ve been getting quite a f...
