I agree completely that trade-ins are something very difficult. No arguments there from me. Even the people who buy from Zach still have a choice. They can buy the BoS from him and plotify it, or they can buy it and keep it non-plot. This implies that the plotcursing is supposed to be an ongoing pro...

They're not being removed.. quite the opposite, the gear will be around as long as the character is, this way. yes and no. The character with one set of Boots of Speed will happily agree, and the solution works nicely. But the characters that have built up some cache, either because they are collec...

And anything that is worth trading a broken item for is almost just as broken by definition. Not necessarily. Custom Items with a nice IC background and description go a long way. Also you can get unusual combinations of powers, that are useful for exactly your character. Of course a true Powergame...

Let me go into simplify mode. Meaning that the following opinions are radicalized, and are probably having a few holes. But they illuminate some things. JO's idea will not work to do much by itself. It needs other things on top of it. This is just one of those possible things. never claimed anything...

two things: a) I thought this kind of loot wasn't "never to be given out", but rather "given out with extreme prejudice and very carefully and seldom" ? b) even as a World Leader for an extreme Low Magic world (heck, Catara even has an enforced quota of magic using PCs vs. non-ca...

Um, well, no it's not. Turning them into normal items due to planar travel is an actual 3rd Edition D&D rule for the planes, which CoPaP tries to emulate as best as possible within reason for NWN. That's why it's a better idea. the problem is that the effect should only be temporary, and revert...

html help needed: Table not showing up properly in Firefox

http://www.catara.org/map/

IE displays it just fine.

Firefox or Safari show white lines between every row.

why ? I can't figure this out at all.

something like that, yes. Only with a bit more elaborate explanation, and not as cheesy :)

The "little inn on a floating rock" is actually a pocket dimension which is quite large, called "The Last Gasp Inn". It's connected to Cataras deathplane.

Thought so.

Thankfully I have already a bunch of ideas on this theme bouncing around, so I guess this will be do-able the one way or another. And if the occasional magic item gets through, so what..

I don't want to discourage people from planar travelling. That's the point of CoPaP after all.

Be careful what kinds of things you set up to control magic item traffic. Rule of thumb is that if a player would not be able to explain it IC, or if they would think it's unfairly robbing them, don't do it. trust me. However I will regulate incoming magic (be it items or mages), it will have an IC...

my current thoughts go on making portalling the harder the more magic you carry along. 1st level fighter with no +anything item at all: Gets a red carpet, free torch and instantly portalled through. 15th level fighter with a bunch of +3 items: Has to go through a series of quests and may end up on C...

Catara is a very low-magic world. Of all linked and unlinked CoPaP worlds, it will probably the one with the fewest magic around. No flashy magic for me Sir! You considered taking the magic items of players gating in, sticking them in a box, then giving them back when they portal out? I think a wor...

Catara hiring Staff

Basically, we look for every position except team leader.

But essentially we need builders & scripters mostly .

Feel free to PM me if you're interested :)

(I'm assuming.)
We will implement them as PrC's, yes. In theory, I'd be happy to make them core classes, but that's just too darned hard to implement.

We have disabled the stock Bioware Paladin on Catara with the Class & Race Quota Enforcer.

The truth is that the best tilesets are the orginal bioware tileset, and with small addons and right placables from CEP can be done amazing things with it, the best looking servers i have seen so far were Tairisandur and Glantri. (from the linked worlds) well. Tairis isn't using plain old Bioware. ...

Personally I like the C.R.A.P. collection, which I'm also using for the PW I'm working on right now.

Their rural and mountain packs feature a few nice forests, and even a tree city. (although the latter, while a very nice idea, still is found lacking)
