Catara Forums going offline

These forums as well as the basic Catara website will go offline within december. The reason, sadly, is the new legislature going in effect next year in germany aimed at protecting the youth. These basically require every website to adhere to the same standards as german TV. Either I ensure that an...

Catara betatests Spellhooking upgrade

That doesn't sound like it would be a major thing, but for Catara it is: We've had our last spellhooking stuff done in what, 2005? There's been a few expansions and a ton of CoPaP changes there. And, alas, Catara and the rest of CoPaP diverged a bit in terms of what is stored in what include file an...

Catara is back!

Over the holidays, I decided on a lark to boot up the old Catara module. Turns out it was still working, and that there were actually people interested in it. So, the server is back, and rejoined CoPaP. The haks are up to 1.69, the server is CoPaP-compliant hak-wise, thanks to Horreds great work. Th...

I'm thinking of building and submitting a new world for inclusion in copap and I would like to use newer content. Will the copap hak 5_0 and copap tlk 4_7 work with CEP 2.2? If not, is there a way to harmonize them? Thanks! CEP 2.2 won't probably be used within CoPaP for a while as far as I know. Y...

Well, at least two CoPaP worlds have no need for these things. I'd suggest you ask your world leader directly if he's interested first.

If Hades wants 'em, they can start a vote for this among the other CoPaP worlds to have them included.

Lights Out

As of now, Catara will be offline. It was a hell of a good time while it ran, and I had loads of fun with the server. Alas, my Real Life demands lots of attention, as well as from the other parts of the Catara team. On top of that we're helping out CuRoi and Jadeia with Catara v2. As if this isn't e...

Catara seeks a new caretaker

Due to ever increasing demands on my time from RL, Catara has suffered greatly from lack of attention during the past months. Now, my current hosting situation will disappear over the next month, forcing me to come to a difficult decision: Will I put effort in finding and setting up another hosting ...

And I'm not sure that I would be accepted due to the fact that there's a world of progress to be added to Sigil insofar. Otherwise, I would have applied a long time ago. And I believe that the city of Sigil is a paramount addition to CoPaP, in that it is one of the most important locations in the p...

Most CoPaP servers actually DO allow this sort of thing. Some, like Avlis, have detailed rules and guidelines for this, others deal with this on a case by case basis. Best you contact the team of the world you want to have player housing on directly. Generally, you can build whatever you want, but u...

look further down that thread to see that texture size is indeed irrelevant for the dedicated server. I think the difficulties arrive partly when you introduce more or less dynamic walkmeshes instead of pre-fabricated ones, and also with the size and detail of said walkmeshes. You still need to stor...

hak conflicts between Abyss and Catara and CoPaP

My Catara gear was buggy as all hell in 404. It was a major pain in the ass. It kept intermittently going invis, in my inv. At no one time did I have all of my gear visible over there. If I needed a stack of healing kits, I needed to relog. If I needed my crossbow, I needed to relog, and so on. I g...

Get Lafferty on board, he already sketched out something like this.

IIRC, he even thought of including a bittorrent client, to fasten up the distribution of the haks.

I've shown the error message to a friend of mine who happens to be a java coder for a living... I'm bound to have forgotten the exact details, but he says that the error message indicates that there are conflicting connections to the db and / or threads within the watcher that aren't closed properly.

these are the SQL lines we execute every 5 minutes. The first line is for expiring variables, the second purges the player_tracking table of really old data.
