I consider that movie to be a side project, something to work on while he thinks of something good to do next.

Well, here's to hoping that Peter Jackson's next movie will be just as bestpicture-worthy as LotR.

Damn, I missed it... And by the sounds of it, it was the first one worth watching, ever. It's about time the oscars start going to the good movies.

Hala Server Relocation

At 10pm GMT on Thursday, March 4th there will be a temporary down time while the Hala server is relocated. Once the server comes back up, you will have to connect to it through nwn.hala-world.org. I don't expect this to take more than an hour or so but it might so I'll make another announcement here...

Mentioning here should be good enough. If you want to go to the specific servers, you're allowed but it could be an issue with either so you'd have to go to them both. Here's fine though, but we may need a bugs forum...

So far, NWNX2 has worked perfectly with v1.61. I've tested most of my module's features that use the db since the upgrade and it all works. Except for one thing, but it only works better because of a patch that was put in during the upgrade...

For the pathfinding issue. If one server doesn't correctly/completely transfer the variables, they're not lost. This also means that a few servers can have a specific variable set up for a cross-server quest and they wouldn't have to make every other server transfer that variable for them.

Remove the nChangingHides option and functionality then set oHide to your book and (assuming they'd work in the first place), you still have your scripts ready.

The problem with the book is that it can be dropped by the PC. This isn't a bad thing as we should only need to record and strip the data during the link but it would require that everyone record and send this data during the link. If someone doesn't want to participate in this, and the player drops...

How often do you replace hides and how long would it take to get (a quick guess) 10 variables before you replace it and then store that same 10 again. For the price of that bit of extra script when you replace hides, this would be a very nice feature to have up and running.

What I'm trying to say is, if a player does already have a hide equipped, why can't we use it to store variables on anyways. Whether the hide is labelled anything specific or not, you can still find it with the equipped in slot command and can still get the variables off of it. If you do want to pas...

If we limit this to just the crafting system for a minute (which is the only big semi-standard system that could benefit from this), we only need to pass 1 number for each skill that the PC has experience in. And you also only 'have' to keep this in some kind of db (LocalInt would work fine) while y...

Check if there's a creature hide and if there isn't one on the player, add a generic one. If there already is a hide, just store the variables on it anyways. When the player gets to the next server, update the db from whatever's in that slot but don't delete the hide. Update it again right before po...

My machine can only handle a few people if I'm playing on it too. Seems to bog it down 'a lot'. It's only really used for MSN/music once in awhile and the toolset if something needs to be updated right away.

Hala runs on a Pentium 4 1.1 GHz machine. It's more than just enough to run a server but the limiting factor is mostly ram, I only have 3-something hundred in it right now. Runs fine with 5-15 players but I've never seen more than that in it yet. As far as internet goes, if you can get downloads and...

This is the reason I do not visit Hala. I only have a 56k Dialup (rural area = no Broadband available and no cable). I have been there a couple of times. It looks awesome. However, it is so slow that it is unplayable - so I don't go there any more. This is a great shame. Is this from the new mod or...

I've got a few DMs that prefer using higher lvl PCs to run DM events instead of the DM-client. They do this for very long quests where people not knowing a DM's running it might be an advantage or just to keep a kind of consistency going. In some of the major DM-ed events, there have been DMs logged...
