I find that anyone who advertises their availability on the CoPaP boards is likely to see interest from the smaller worlds. These worlds don't often have the same process for hiring staff that Avlis has and don't get near as many people applying to work for them as they are in fact smaller than Avli...

I am directly referring to long term quests that only seem to involve uber monsters that 90% of the players can't do any significant damage to without dying repeatedly in the course of things. You seem to have a logical disconect here. In order for a quest or storyline to run a long time, there mus...

First of all I wasn't talking about newbies, I was talking about lowbies. I define a lowbie as being about levels 6 to 12 now that we have 40 levels. Next I never specified a monster type nor did I refer to static spawns. I know epic level characters who won't fight admantine golems. Any lowbie know...

One point I want to make in all of these discussions about nerfing enhancements....without them low level characters can't even hope to travel with higher levels. Travel? Or jump into a fray? Right now if my melee PC (lvl 16) has a level 15 + cleric to work with, I'm basically given a +5 shield, +5...

My Avlis character is level 15 and has more than 1 +3 weapon of different damage types. However the weapon she uses most often is a +1 with elemental dmg. If the GMW spell was nerfed to make it a +3 rather than a +5, I wouldn't cry over it. though it would make it totally useless to have that +3 lon...

Good reasons PB, was also thinking (like Laff) that it can serve multiple functions. It could remove the need for PCs to carry around multiple items, like the tradeskills journal and an emote wand. Heh, hadn't thought of the emote wand, but that is a good idea too. The wand is not an IC item, but ha...

With the cursed plot undroppable items in HotU, you can't drop them as far as I know. You can't sell/trade them or put them in an inventory bag or in a placeable container. There's no getting rid of them except for scripted means. So one of those small miscellaneous items would probably do. No need...

in most cases, those items just pull the stored info out of a DB, they don't actually store the info themselves. but they probably could be used for the purpose being discussed here It just seemed a logical place to me. If the tradeskills is the primary bit of information we want to be passed, then...

First off, I don't really know much of anything about scripting. So if my idea is way off the mark, just ignore it. IF CoPaP goes with a standardized crafting system, like ARS, PCs who craft carry an item with their crafting skill information in it. In the crafting systems I have seen it is usually ...

The IC reasons for going to other primes never seem to feel convincing enough. Gairus, while seeing some of the more bizarre planes, etc. does have appeal, I can't agree with your logic here. Some species would do so out of curiosity, if for no other reason. Humans and halflings come to mind especi...

I have no problem creating template interiors and such. The part that gets to me is linking all the transitions together afterwards. Need an easier way to do that. Create a consistent code and use that to name your doors, transitions, triggers, waypoints, map tags, etc. It makes coding these items ...

Creating and Using "Template" Maps
Hmm...was mulling around a problem and came up with a solution after reading the first question post in the scripters'/builders forum. Thought this was a handy idea I could share for those who haven't thought of it already... I am working on an elvish forest that has 20 odd maps in it. All the maps ...

Personally, I would rather see a consolidated listing. I feel it would be discouraging and aggravating to run into technical difficulties because I didn't have a hakpak (that I probably didn't know I needed.) This is supposed to be fun, so I tend to favor the easier way that offers the greater amoun...

EA *Set record uptime of 512hrs without a reset (and still going) *DNS update sent in, url should start working in 72hrs *Updated Staff status charts 100,1000, and 10000 min charts to show max # of players logged in between data samples. The URL seems to be working fine for me now. I was able to co...
