its definitely there ;) server might have gotten reset, or been busy or something... if it ever doesn't show up, just try again later. Server is definitely there, and fairly regularly backed up, so it it goes down it can be revived pretty easily ;)

uhhh... something awful is a joke site, their stuff is written to start out sounding normal but then get more and more ridiculous... did you read their review of NWN? it eventually starts complaining about the "mana" system of spellcasting. The best part are the email responses where peopl...

I suggested landscape skyboxes too ;) not that I need them, but I think they'd add tremendously to the atmosphere, particularly mountain ones: real rendered mountains in the foreground with misty peaks painted on the skyboxes in the background poking out behind them...

Hellfire has started making some custom skies: check out the stars, clouds (little fluffy coulds?), asteroids, and more...

How often do you replace hides and how long would it take to get (a quick guess) 10 variables before you replace it and then store that same 10 again. For the price of that bit of extra script when you replace hides, this would be a very nice feature to have up and running. The problem is not reall...

except for when the hides get switched out or something... if the system changes out the hide based on some condition (like a lycanthropy script?) then it would have to have all the code for moving stuff around included within it and do that everytime something changed. I think we'd be better of usi...

I'd have no problem with supporting only one crafting system, that would help the sense of continuity from one server to another. I've got no immediate plans to use a crafting system anyway, and when I look for one, having only one good choice would make that search easier. Do any of the current wor...

If we limit this to just the crafting system for a minute (which is the only big semi-standard system that could benefit from this), we only need to pass 1 number for each skill that the PC has experience in. And you also only 'have' to keep this in some kind of db (LocalInt would work fine) while ...

If some server comes online that absolutely refuses to temporarily store these variables on a db (even the built-in thing would do) and they want to change the hides of every character that portals through, we might have a problem (with the leader). Could be, though I can see that happening. I'm al...

For transfering tradeskill data, it can be stored on the same token as the passport. This transfer of data can be optional to the person who runs the server. For example, if HermyT runs CNR instead of ARS, then a character with levels in ARS would not get their data transfered to Hermyt's database ...

True, persistant chests would be nice, but to actually store that object (and not just a pointer to it) would be a serious burden I'd think... just a few of those and character files would become huge.

This is true, we can use this to transfer any variable, like crafting. Hmm... I would rather not use up a creature item slot. You never know what you'll use those things for. I agree... and I've got plans for mine! they're all mine! uhh... I hadn't even thought of things like tradeskills, that coul...

this is exactly what I thought when I saw that thread, but I thought we were going to try for an all DB solution? I prefer the item solution as its easier and cleaner I think... would be simple to have a standard "passport" item with some set vars like: "Origin Server" "Dest...

yes, they'll be able to ride together with the new scripts (the thing that's taking so long ;) the old ones were much simpler but didn't allow such neccessary thing) as for natives... I'm not exactly sure what to do about that. My thought is to give them a starting ship and helm, total "value&q...

and uh, what relation do spelljamming vessels / items have to this? some are worth far more than any normal magical item (in fact some ships and helms would qualify as "epic" according to the ELH)? should only some be available? or is that pretty much up to world discretion?

I can't say much for PW, but I've done a decent amount of game hosting... on my reasonable (2.4 ghz, 1 gig ddr ram) home pc I can host a server and log in as dm and have 4-6 players np with basically no lag.
